The Shirelles' Shirley Alston Reeves Rocks the Greenway

July 14th, 2009

On a sun-splashed Greenway at noon, Don Chiofaro welcomed International Place tenants – as well as guests from the Wharf District, Harbor Towers and North End – as he introduced Shirley Alston Reeves, lead singer of rock ’n’ roll’s first “girl band.” With the cooperation of the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy (an International Place tenant), International Place celebrated summer with Shirley’s exciting performance in our new front yard. Shirley and her band rocked the picnicking audience with classic doo-wop, including “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,” “Mama Said,” and “Baby, It’s You.” This first tenant event held on the Greenway took full advantage of summer sunshine and breezes, and provided an inclusive, community feeling.

It Was Magic!

June 13th, 2006

On June 13th, 2006, International Place tenants enjoyed a stylish, sophisticated and corporate-friendly version of a magic show. Bill Herz, a self-styled "corporate magician-the best in his price range," amazed and entertained guests in the Courtyard with his hilarious and audience-involving act. Many tenants brought their children for the performance and traditional box lunch was served. Bill left his audience "dazed and confused"-but happy and amused. Good thing he didn't make their lunches disappear!
